Are you the person people call when a truck is down because you actually understand what they’re talking about?

We’re looking for a Weekend Breakdown Coordinator who knows heavy-duty trucks, can troubleshoot problems, and thinks quickly when something goes wrong.

This is not a basic call-center position. You’ll listen to drivers describe mechanical issues, ask the right questions, determine the best course of action, and coordinate the fastest, safest solution to get them moving again.

When breakdown calls are quiet, you’ll also support our maintenance team as a Service Writer, helping coordinate repairs, technicians, parts, and repair orders.

If you have experience with diesel trucks, fleet maintenance, trucking, or service writing and you’re a strong problem-solver, this could be a great fit.

What You’ll Be Doing

Breakdown Coordination

• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers experiencing mechanical issues, tire failures, accidents, and other roadside problems.

• Use your mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues and determine the severity of the problem.

• Determine whether equipment can safely make it to a shop or requires roadside service or towing.

• Find fast, practical, and cost-effective solutions to minimize driver and equipment downtime.

• Coordinate with mobile mechanics, towing companies, tire vendors, dealerships, and repair facilities.

• Communicate ETAs and repair updates to drivers, dispatch, and fleet maintenance leadership.

• Track breakdowns from the initial call through completion.

• Accurately document repairs, vendors, costs, downtime, and other important details.

• Identify recurring equipment issues and communicate potential patterns to fleet maintenance leadership.

• Escalate accidents, injuries, and major mechanical failures according to company procedures.

When the Phones Are Quiet

You’ll help keep the shop running smoothly by:

• Opening and managing repair orders for shop technicians.

• Communicating with technicians about repair status, priorities, and parts needs.

• Updating maintenance and TMS systems with accurate repair information.

• Helping order and track parts for open repairs.

• Closing completed repair orders and ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.

• Helping prioritize weekend shop work based on breakdowns and fleet needs.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate knows heavy-duty trucks, thinks on their feet, and is confident making decisions when a driver needs help.

We’d love to talk with you if you have:

• Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including diesel engines, brakes, electrical systems, tires, and suspension.

• 2+ years of experience as a Diesel Technician, Service Writer, Commercial Driver, Breakdown Coordinator, or in fleet maintenance preferred.

• The ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues based on information provided by a driver.

• Good judgment when determining whether a situation requires roadside repair, towing, or a repair facility.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly to drivers, technicians, and vendors.

• The ability to stay organized and prioritize while managing multiple breakdowns and repair orders.

• Reliable availability to work Saturday and Sunday weekend shifts.

• Familiarity with DOT out-of-service criteria and CVSA inspection standards is a plus.

• Experience with fleet maintenance or transportation management software such as Decisiv, Fleetio, TMT, or Dossier is a plus.
