BEST Logistics Group is NOW HIRING a Safety Coordinator to join our Safety Team here at BEST Logistics Group! This position will have a heavy focus on fleet safety for our Flatbed and Heavy Haul operations within our BEST Specialized and Mission Critical divisions.
The individual in this role will work closely with our Director of Safety and Fleet Operations to drive operational excellence, driver safety, and customer satisfaction. They will be critical in helping to build a world-class safety culture that sets our drivers up for success, supports our operations, and ensures compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
There will be frequent interaction with management, drivers, and other support staff to act as a dedicated resource pertaining to safety programs within these two business units, and procedures to ensure the well-being of our drivers, equipment, and the public.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Fleet Operations and our Director of Safety to hold and participate in regular safety meetings, delivering content to drivers on a variety of job related, industry & company specific topics.
Assist with the monitoring of unsafe driving (MVR, complaints, accidents, telematics events, etc.) as well as supporting driver incentives and recognition.
Providing direct support to our Director of Safety, in regards to accident management; reporting, investigation, corrective action, and remedial training on an as needed basis.
Strong emphasis on FMCSA and DOT related regulations and updates to best practices to ensure our drivers are gaining the most relevant knowledge, while also supporting us proactively in compliance.
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and programs tailored to flatbed and heavy haul operations (remedial training, on-the-job training, and support for drivers transitioning into these roles from other fleet operations or beginning their career as a trainee)
Support recruiting efforts with ensuring a seamless process with the onboarding of new drivers to BEST Specialized and Mission Critical and providing input to guarantee the right job match for the driver
Working one-on-one with drivers to provide coaching, as needed, and being a proactive resource to fleet operations to better support their workforce and service their customers
This role is both hands-on and strategic, ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and helping to promote the highest quality of safety practices
Job requirements
Ideal candidate will possess:
Direct experience with flatbed and heavy haul trucking operations - including oversized and permitted loads - is required
Knowledge of DOT and FMCSR Regulations
Familiarity with Hours of Service for CDL A Drivers
Problem-solving ability within a fast-paced environment
Be a motivated self-starter
Experience in MS Office, particularly Excel; knowledge of TenStreet highly helpful as well
CDL Class A strongly-preferred
